Phenakistoscope

Where engineering meets art in motion

The Phenakistoscope Project

The phenakistoscope is an 18th-century optical device, the first to use moving images. In this project for visual artist NORA ANCAROLA It has been reinterpreted through engineering criteria, using contemporary materials and advanced 3D modeling to create a functional and artistic piece at the same time.

The piece is part of the exhibition of NORA ANCAROLA "La força del Display. Arxiu Gae" which was presented at the MNAC in October 2025 and will be active until February 2026

Engineering and Design

I work in the field of structural analysis, 3D modeling, and advanced simulation, applying mechanical engineering techniques to engineering, artistic, and architectural projects. I use tools such as ANSA, NASTRAN, and 3D design/ONSHAPE.
